The Last
Frontier Foundation was founded in 2001 as a nonprofit research and
educational organization with a focus on Mat-Su issues, Alaska State
issues, and a few National policies.
Those
who subscribe to the principles of individual liberty, limited government
and free markets are our members. The duty of the Foundation is to
explore and advance public policy ideas that promote individual liberty,
personal responsibility, economic opportunity, and for the elimination
of policies that inhibit those freedoms.
It combines
an appreciation for private enterprise and the market process with
a respect for civil liberties. In short, we believe that human happiness,
prosperity and social harmony requires a limited government that upholds
property rights and leaves individuals free to pursue their dreams.
As a policy
research organization, The Last Frontier Foundation examines many
issues that will one day be decided at the ballot box or in elected
bodies. That said, The Last Frontier Foundation focuses on ideas,
not politics.
The Last
Frontier Foundation is independent; it is not affiliated with any
political party. Further, the Last Frontier Foundation does not lobby
the legislature or endorse candidates, ballot initiatives or legislation.
Instead, the Last Frontier Foundation takes the long-range approach
to its mission, working to stimulate debate in questions of policy
and the proper role of government in a free society.
The Last
Frontier Foundation is supported through the generous, voluntary contributions
of individuals, businesses, and foundations.
The Last
Frontier Foundation does not solicit or accept any government funding.
The Last Frontier Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational
organization; contributions are fully tax-deductible.
